sand in frame

well today I removed my air filter to clean it and found that on the inside of the frame there is some sand and oil. the oil would be fromt the breather tube ( which I am going to reroute) but how would the sand get it. I put water proof grease on the bottom of the airfilter surface where it sits on the frame, and no sand there only in the frame. the ventury of the carb is starting to look like it's getting sandblasted. my bike is a 2005 fs 650e it gets used 90% on road and 10% off road. to be exact I have used it 3 times at a mx track since I bought it this winter. is there an air inlet at the steering head!

Maybe the engine breather hose/boot isn't sitting on the frame backbone properly and its sucking unfiltered air from there. Or its split. It should be the only other way air could get into the backbone/airbox if the airfilter is seated properly. Pull off the tank and see what you can see........
