I don't know much about his ride, but I see that Valtteri Salonen raced to an 8th yesterday at the last GNCC of the year. Anybody see anything?

I haven't found anything on the specifics of Salonen's ride, but when is the last time a Husaberg has finished top 10 in the GNCC pro class? I can't remember if Jenks or Fahringer rode any GNCC's this year.

EDIT: Salonen finished 15th overall, 8th in class. Some of the top XC2 guys were ahead of him too. Looks like he was around 13 minutes off of winner Nathan Kanney's pace. Still pretty good.

All the guys in front of him were GNCC regulars, so I have to say great ride! The speed those guys ride for the duration is hard to imagine unless you see it yourself. I would love to see a top rider on Husaberg contesting the GNCC series in 2009. It is by far the top off road series here in he USA, and the one that gets the most attention.

David Knight did not ride. Instead he decided to ride a Hillbilly Charriott in the ATV race Saturday. He got smoked. Maybe BMW will develop a 4 wheeler signature model for him so he can get some more practice. Shaft drive of course. :D

think the general concensus, even from knight himself, was that he was going to get smoked.

the only other time he's raced quads properly has been weston beach race.

good result from salonen.

also forWelsh rider jason thomas in xc2, hands up who knows where Machynlleth is, or can even say it.

3rd in xc2 and ninth overall if i've read it right

if he keeps this up he could be in for the xc2 title next year

I was at the Ironman GNCC checking out the new 'Bergs. Salonen rode Robbie Jenks' bike. Robbie hasn't ridden any GNCC's this year. Salonen had a poor start, next to last into the woods, but had a solid ride after that. Going that pace for 3 hrs is just insane! Bike looked good, can't wait for mine!

Here's pics of the bike Salonen rode:

Cypher

JT spent some time here in Canada, top shelf family. I met his father at Erzberg and both of them at the ISDE. YUP he's got game.

DK's interview after his atv race, mentions Salonen comments about how different a GNCC is to a WEC. Very hard to come and do well straight up. Saying so REALLY makes Juha much more of a king, the man is a warrior. Hopefully this event will wet Valterri's appetite to return. I know he's wanted to come for a couple years, hopefully it can happen more often.

Both Juha and Knight coming straight aways to GNCC and winning titles is really something. KTM is going to miss those guys.

KTM will certainly miss them, but, geez, its going to be quite the battle between them adn BMW. With Aubert winning now, ALdrati the junior, and Joakim progressing as the new blood, the WEC will be tougher than ever. Again, some are not impressed by the results of the new bike and the factory guys, but for example, Bjorne rode faster this year, had a smaller margin to the leader and finished further back in the pack. The competition in all classes is so stiff now. The BMW team is just adding drama to the opera.

can't wait, should be excellent!!!!

Agreed. Anyone not inpressed by the Husaberg results this year in WEC needs to look at the level of competition. The new Husaberg is a solid step forward but it is not a magic carpet. It still has to be ridden against a bunch of other really good bikes and riders. I wish Husaberg had the $$$ to throw at riders like Juha and Knighter, because you know they can ride anything. The reviews of the new BMW have not been near as positive as those of the Husabergs. There has been a new BMW 450x for sale over at AdvRider for two weeks now, and he is asking 8K for it--no takers.

Irregardless, I am sure that Juha and Knighter will win their share of races on the BMW. Hopefully Joakim will do the same in WEC and Fahringer will podium some here in the USA.
