Does anybody know what the 2006 US vs. worldwide total sales figures are for H'berg?

Or is this top secret information?

By the look of things MG, it must be top secret. As far as I'm concerned, just enough to keep a fair supply of spares in the area, keep-um guessing

I don't know if they are right, but I found these older figures for worldwide sales and it lumps KTM and Husaberg together.

As an Austrian, I have to add more actual numbers:

For the business year 2004/2005 (August 31, 2005) KTM claims a total sales volume of 452 Mio € (+ 12 %) and sales of worlwide 80.356 motorcycles(+ 85 cm³), trranslating into a world market share of ~ 8 % of documented sales, excluding developing countries.

And, even more actual, the 05/06 numbers:

Group sales of KTM Power Sports AG: € 504.5 million, +32% (KTM Group GmbH: +12% )
Group sales were increased over the previous year by +32 % (thereof +20 % due to full consolidation, KTM Group GmbH 12 % versus previous year), from € 381.9 million to € 504.5 million. Along with the volume growth, the rise in sales resulted from a changed model mix (less sportminicycles, more 2-cylinder models) and strong growth in the related products segment (spare parts, accessories, OEM-products).

KTM-group’s unit sales: 84,421 units, +5 %
In the past business year 84,421 motorcycles were sold (+ 5 % over the preceding year). This positive growth has been caused in the off-road segment by the introduction of further models and in the street segment by the successful presentation of the new models (990 Adventure, 950 Superenduro) and the increase in sales (950 Supermoto) in the 2-cylinder segment. The US continues to be the largest sales market (25 % of total unit sales), followed by Italy, Germany, Australia and France.

Positive Outlook
KTM sees good chances for growth in the business year 2006/07 in which, besides related products, primarily new and attractive street and offroad models will carry the future growth. A slight improvement in results can be anticipated from the growth of the unit sales as well as the expected enhancement of product margins especially through the ongoing transition in the direction of 2-cylinder models.
For the upcoming business year further investments in the segments infrastructure and optimizations in production processes and capacities are being planed. Regarding research and development the focus will lie on the development of new street and offroad models on the basis of the new LC4 engine, on the development of the Superbike RC8 and new offroad racing models.

I have still no clue how to extract the Husaberg numbers from their data!

I sent KTM investor relations an e-mail asking for historical Husaberg unit sales figures. We will see if I get a response.

i would imagine the husaberg figures are a very small percentage of the ktm numbers .

i see a lot of ktm in my part of the world , and its rare i see a husa .

my stealer , er dealer has the same number of units on the floor , located in the same position
as the last time i was in there .

i ask him how sales are doing , he replies '' we are moving 'em ''

It looks like KTM intentionally marks up the list price almost $1,000 over a KTM to make sure the Berg does not detract from KTM sales..they promote the new Bergs at $9,000 American but we all know we get them cheaper than that..it's a shame KTM gives so little marketing attentionto the Berg...could be like the Viper to Chrysler and the Corvette to Chevrolet...

Any word on sales figures?

I'm wondering if anyone heard back from KTM on the sales figures for U.S. and worldwide for Husaberg.

Thanks, M-G

It seems to be a vicious circle, not enough dealers around that can do the work & give support & not enough riders around that want to do the work themselves, or cant. If KTM have incorporated the Berg sales figures into their own, why doesnt every KTM dealer have a range of Berg's out the front on display ??

Certain parts of Australia ( WA & QLD) are having massive productivity booms at the moment & there is alot of $$$ being spent on toys. QLD is the 2nd biggest state in Australia & it only has 2 dealers. I also cant understand why there arent more Motard Bergs around for the older blokes (just returning after kids etc ) to have a bit of fun on the weekends with without risking injuring yourself offroad. The other upside is thousands more eyes watching the blue & yellow tear away at lights.

Keep the price slightly more than the KTM's & promote, promote, promote.

My 2 bob's worth anyway.

Wal

PS: I cant believe how many dudes for OZ are on this site...Wicked !

I think Aussies per capita would be close to having the most berg's of any country - (outside of sweden - I see a lot of bergs in enduro clips ?? ) despite all the crap we get from run of the mill jap bike riders :) Saying that I have to devote far more time to repairs and maintenance :(

Only dealer I can think of that sells both in my area is Caldecotts.

3 other dealers are KTM only (+ jap bikes)

1 other dealer is Husaberg and Husqvarna,

Seems there is no obligation to stock/sell both if you dont want to.

I think it can be done, but....

It takes a long time to fixed a tarnished reputation........

Thanks Faktor, you're really getting to the nub of the matter.

The reason I asked the question was to really see what kind of "investment" KTM has in Husaberg.

I agree that it seems like it will take a long time to recover from the intial poor experiences that many have experienced in owning a 'berg. I think it can be done, the question is whether KTM/Husaberg is interested in investing the time and effort to recover the initial owner base, along with pursuing a new owner base.

I've owned four Husabergs (an FC501, an FE450e, an FS650e, and an FE650e). All but the 450 represented a significant ownership challenge. And so much so that I don't own a Husaberg today. I've considered it, and in fact we have one of the most capable dealers in my area, but a question for me is whether I want to invest in another Husaberg knowing that KTM's commitment to the brand and their commitment to dealer support is only marginal.

What if KTM requested the Husaberg dealers to pull all of their new bike sales receipts for Husabergs over the last 10 years and then mailed past owners an offer to buy a new 'berg for a significantly discounted cost? This offer would include an appeal to give the new 'berg an included extended warranty of 18 or 24 months. In other words, KTM/Husaberg could demonstrate that they value the customer base that got them to where they are in the first place, and they could promote brand loyalty by showing previous owners that they care about them as a consumer/purchaser of the product.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but my original question was intended to reflect on what sort of commitment KTM has to the product.
