Safari petcock

I just purchased a used Safari front tank and one of the three stock petcocks is leaking (another is suspect). I think I can get a replacement from safari, but has anyone found a conventional petcock that can replace it? The bolt holes are about 40mm apart (center to center). I'm not impressed with the screw-type design of the safari tank petcocks.

Well I don't have an Acerbis one to try. Do you have one that we could get some measurements from?

I needed new petcocks for my ktm690 Safari and couldn't find anything. Ended up ordering from Just gas tanks in NY state. They messed up my order and sent a gas cap. While they were very helpful, they let me keep the cap no charge. The petcocks did have to come from Australia so it did take some time. All in all, 4 months to receive them and I don't believe they are a top quality product.
I'm hoping you find an alternative. If you do, please let us know.

Looks just like KTM part 58507003200 $19.09 O-ring 0770020130 $.69
I use this tap on the left side of the oversize Clarke tank on my 05.
Used on these KTM bikes (and many others) and some Huskies:

Year Model
2016 1190 ADVENTURE
2016 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE
2016 50 SX
2016 65 SX

They only last so long and then must be replaced as they are not rebuildable.

I think I have a new extra one. Send me your tank and I will see if it fits.

I'll post some pics and measure it this weekend.

i've swapped the ktm / husaberg no reserve type, the husky screw type, and a mikuni that came on an '06 tank. all interchangeable, same bolt pattern.

you can get most things aftermarket in the UK but you can't get those. so if anyone has a supply source I'd be grateful!

thanks

Well here is a pic of the safari petcock, the mounting bolt holes are about 40mm center-to-center. Does anyone have a pic of the raptor, acerbis, ktm, or husky petcocks for comparison?

near as i can tell, your center to center measurement is closer to 34-35.

My camera battery died but my new KTM part 58507003200 measures the same as Ned's. BTW is does come with an o-ring.

I'd say Ned is right, your measuring looks a little out of wack. I assume that Safari would just be buying generic fuel taps and manufacturing the tanks to suit. Too costly to tool up to make special size taps.

OK cool, thanks for everyone's help and correcting my measurements and the pics from Ned. I was comparing it to a suzuki petcock/tank I had in the garage and they did not appear to be the same size.

I agree with Husabutt, the photo in the original link looks like the petcocks on my KTM 990 R that calls for part 58507003200. Mine has one one each side and they look the same just rolled as needed to install. These are just open closed valves for fuel injection application (in case you were going to retrofit to something with a carb).
