Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know about troubles I am having installing a safari front tank on my 2011 FE 570.
Drilling the hole in fuel pump case:
1. The temple appears to be wrong. If you drill the hole where the template specifies, the tap ends up blocking the bottom right fuel pump fastening bolt. The hole needs to be drilled more toward the center to allow the bolt to be installed
2. Be VERY careful when drilling the hole. The plastic flaked off on the edges creating an uneven surface which is difficult to get a good seal. Mine leaks. Tried using larger rubber washer with no luck.
Solution: I am going to call the shop tomorrow and hopefully order 2 more fuel pump cases. 1 to try again and the second to go back to stock and return the tank if I am unsuccessful. I say hopefully because I do not know if they sell the case separate from the pump and the full assembly costs over $500.
The large fastener that fastens the safari tanks to the stack tank is too big. It simply does not fit in the fuel filler opening.
Solution: I am going to call Just tanks tomorrow and see it I can get the right part.
Wiring harness is in the way of the tap. I’m not sure how to solve this problem. Will try again when I get the new parts.
Hopefully I will have the parts in the next week or 2. Will let you know what happens.
