Anybody know if the akro muffler has a sparky screen available? Any other brands that fit?

Hi TM,
I think I saw a spark arrester/end cap on an Akro muffler at BOSS' shop. I believe it was a PMB and looked gorgeous!

Not the living room, but it does make my garage look good.

Regarding the S/A, it looks like there should be an s/a screen available that will bolt right into the same place as the outlet reducer. BTW, it is pretty quiet.

A sparky can be adapted to the akra easily enough. I got a FMF model s9000 (I think), and removed the FMF attachment pieces and epoxied onto the akra quiet insert. It should have no effect on the abundant power, passes the stick test, and is easily visible by shining a flashlight down the endpipe. The only downside is that it does not say USFS approved, BUT the stamp on the FMF insert only said "Spark Arrestor" and listed the part number. So unless the s9000 is USFS approved and on a list with the USFS, and the enforcement officer has the list, an FMF pipe owner could be SOL as well.

spark arrestor

Wile assembling my akro muffler, I saw in the destructions a bit about the "spark arrestor"....it looks as though it should bolt right up like another as suggested; however, I did not see a spark arrestor on the akro site or any other site that sells akro pipes??? Does anybody really know....somebody must have one. :?:

RE: spark arrestor

The spark arrestor is available from Akro, as pictured in some mag ads. However its availability has been minimal, BMG has been working to get this available through normal parts channels. I will find out more for you.

cheers

RE: spark arrestor

I am looking for one as well. I notice that KTM has an arrestor listed on some of their Akro mufflers. I wonder if the parts are available and interchangable.

RE: spark arrestor

The sparky insert is available from your dealer for the slip on muffler.

The slip-on is the smaller muffler with the tapererd endcap (looks like a Jap muffler)? I have the larger 650 SM muffler, any idea if the same S/A fits them all? Does the S/A come with the quiet insert?

TM

the S/A is integrated into the quiet tip, so you will replace the whole assy.

I'm not sure that the tips are the same, I thought that your muffler might ahve a larger ID, therefore a different insert. Again I'll check this and come back with an answer.

So you like that 496 huh?
