Don't know if this has been posted before but makes interesting reading.
Takes some balls to do it on a new or rebuilt engine but have a mate who's done this method on quite a few engines, 2 and 4 stroke, with great results.
I usually take it real easy on a new engine for the first hundred miles or so then gradually build up the revs over the course of the next 500 miles but this suggests the opposite, have a read see what you think.

I've always used this sort of (running in) principal. I've rebuilt motors in my Dads shed when i was a kid from 1970's yamaha dt 360's,400's,small block valiant v8's, 1990 TTR250 and countless stationaray motors, mowers and chainsaws. It was my old man that put in my head that a motor should be treated hardfrom the get go. BUT!! there is a really big difference betwwen running any motor in hard and THRASHING the living daylights out of it! The best thing anyone can keep in mind is ENGINE LOAD... that is make it work hard but treat it like you love it not like you stole it

this web sites great.

regards to all
