Rm stators

Well i had a big ride this weekend. Lost spark last weekend. Paid over night shipping on a rm stator. I wanted to get one from taffmeisters but it would not have been in on time. Rm stator says direct plug and play. Not so much. Soldered my connectors to the new stator and bike fired right up. Now it backfires and wont rev past half throttle. I have a 2000 fe400. They said the part is correct mor my bike. Unable to call them they are closed. Any ideas before i loose my temper?:furious: would like to try and ride at least tomorrow. I watched taffys video on timing, timing seems correct but i get a terrible miss at higher rpm. Thanks

Went through all this a year ago, rm stator did same thing was bouncing timing around M 10btdc to 50btdc, finally threw it away and got
One from taffy

They said they would send me a new one. Should have got one from him in the first place but i needed it for the weekend. Dont think im riding anytime soon. So you dont think i should spend money on a new cdi/coil?

I can't say if there is different stator types (RM vs. Electrex). Basically they look very similiar. But when reading forums also other people complain that they couldn't get the timing right and the engine doesn't really rev.

I have an Electrex stator and for me it works (exactly how taffy explained). People who ordered other stators (but similar looking ones) have problems. They only difference I can see is:
  • light vs. dark green color at the coils
  • aluminium plate for the coil mount vs. material like phenolic polymer (don't know what it is exactly)

First picture below shows my Electrex stator, the second one was ordered from TomMotec (german retail), which looks similiar to your RM-Stator. Last pic shows the RM-stator.

Maybe they are really different? Does somebody know more about it?

Ede
