I have a suggestion, and I don't know if it is a new suggestion to this site or not. Here goes.
Many of us travel on our vacations to far away places with our families. Once we are at these locations, we see amazing riding opportunities, but we have no way to access those rides because we have no bike and no idea where the local trails are.
While at the same time, many of us are sitting at home with three or four bikes in our garage whishing we had someone who was available to go riding. We could be in California, Canada, Hawaii, Greece, Spain, Germany, who knows where?
Here is my suggestion. I suggest we begin a post with our geographic location, what type of spare bikes we have, and if we would be available to take a visitor out for a ride while they were in our location.
I know I live in Northeastern California, I have half a dozen bikes, three of them are dual sports, and I know thousands of miles of local trails and backcountry that would make any riders day to be able to get out and see. I know the back country in my location and I know where to take dual sport riders to see sights, places of historical interest, and do some great riding.
I often travel to Hawaii, and I managed to make a contact there in the islands who took my son and I riding one day, it was an amazing tour of the interior of that island and we not only enjoyed our ride, but we paid our host for the use of his equipment and time. It is a great memory of ours spending that day riding Hawaii.
My wife and I plan on traveling to Italy and Spain soon, possibly Ireland, Scotland, and England too. I am often in the Pacific Northwest and I usually have my bike(s) with me. I have spent days poking around Washington and Oregon, but I have never found the trails I see on this site. A guide who could show me the local trails would be perfect.
Now, of course, the reverse would be expected of me. I would gladly volunteer to take a rider out in my area and show him the sites. How simple would it be to pack an extra bag with your riding gear in it when you are headed out on vacation? Then, when your wife, daughter in law, siter, etc are planning that day to go shopping, we could plan that day to go riding in some place we have never been and where we may never be again in our lifetime.
This is just a suggestion, but I think it could work.
