Rev limiter

I had my first ride on my FE450e last weekend and overall was very pleased with how it went. I used the race as more of a practise to see how I would get on with a 4 stroke, having not ridden one since an '86 XR250 I had about 15 years ago.

Does anyone know if these bikes have a rev limiter, and if so when does it cut in? On a 2 stroke the power naturally drops off quite abruptly, and can't be over revved, but I was wary of over revving the 'berg in case it went bang!

Badger,

The bikes do have a limiter to keep them from over rev'ing. I don't know the exact RPM limits on the different bikes but they sign off about 9000 to 10000 I believe. Hope this helps.

Badger,

I found a little more info that might prove to be helpful in your quest of knowledge. The following thread goes into more detail than what your asking but gives you rev limits for the 650cc and 400cc engines. Its safe to say all others are somewhere in between I would guess.

rev limiter info thread

I hope that this will answer your question and if you have a question regarding a specific model and year just post it up and I'm sure someone will be buy to help you out.
