Has Mr Lineweaver or anyone else worked out a "magic" kit to fit the kokusan ignition in place of a sem? Thanks holeshot

Hi,

thanks, yes have a look in my gallery.
Next step for me would be to order the original Husaberg 04 stator cover
to improve the appearance.
Otherwise it works really well. I´m satisfied with my "modded" ignition.
Did you have problems with the SEM?
Me too.

Problem with SEM?

Hi,

Do you have problem with SEM?
I had a discussion with my dealer today. In May this year I bought a new system and the second week in September I had a lot of misfire. Then I checked, the stator(is it the right name?) was broken and a piece from the magnetic part on the wheel was missing. I went to the dealer due to he told me that it should be one year warranty on the parts. He checked the parts and told me they were in good condition and called David Larsson at Husaberg and he said there is no warranty. He also told that all SEM-systems cracks, it only a matter of time. So, Husaberg sells the systems for big money and despite they know they all will crack and the owner need to buy a new one.

hribman, Bravo, and they said it couldnt be done. Good job fabricating your own set up. I am sure a lot of other Berg owners are very interested in this mod. glad to see there is hope.

I thought before that mod´s nothing special.
I wonder who said that it couldn´t be done.

Hi Holeshot,
Sorry for the delay in my reply. I wanted to gather some facts before making a statement.

The Kokusan retrofit is indeed doable albeit costly. Based on current pricing such a kit would need to retail for upwards of $1,000.00

I would like to hear from the masses to learn if this is indeed something that would be purchased or simply considered cost prohibitive as an upgrade.

Kind Regards,
Dale

-so how many riders are here having this problem?

I believe I said I didnt think it could be done. I was speaking from an economic standpoint. Almost anything can be done with enough time and money.

The SEM system seems to work from a few months to some years but you never know when it stops. I would guess it works well one to two years in general. With some luck, this time has increased from model -04.
Now they have Kokusan system instead.

Husaberg has promised me a new system since my broke within four months. Not go it yet but I needed to be in contact with them for several of weeks before they gave me one due to the law.

Hi guys,
Very impressive this mod....I have some questions to do.
The rotor,is original SEM or you have changed it with Kokusan?in any case how does work the pulser coil?
It must be mounted Kokusan CDI,ignition coil and rectifier?(excuse for question...)and in this case TPS sensor can be eliminate without problems?
At least,do you think is possible to apply this on pre 1999 models?
Thank you

Hi my men

Before you start thiking of crazy stuff... was best if you consider sending your stator to sparks... 8O

They work fine and don't brake... its just a thout..

You can also send the flywheel if you need.

Of course they brake too, know a guy here in Sweden with a Sparks rewounded stator it worked well for 8 months and then it broke so they dont last for ever if you tought that :)
Nothing last for ever....
