Replacement chain for 2012 390?

Hi all,

I'm looking to replace the chain on my 390 and was wondering what options are available? As you all know the stock is the DID VT2, and for some reason best known only to the local importers, I can only get it in gold, yes that's right, GOLD!! I mean seriously, who wants a gold chain on their beautiful berg!!!!! Apologies to all those with gold chains :)

I was looking at the DID VX2, which is substantially cheaper, and available in black, but it would appear the original VT2 has a smaller roller diameter, 10.16mm as opposed to 10.22 on the VX2. The VT2 is also listed as a "narrow x-ring" on the DID site, however I don't know exactly what that means. Given all that, I'm guessing the VX2 is not suitable correct?

Can anyone else recommend any suitable chains of equal or better quality to DID?

Thanks for your help.

I really wouldn't worry about the very small difference in roller diameter - your sprockets probably aren't made to the same tolerance!

The VT2 would be OK - as the website says, it is good for older bikes where there may not be clearance for the extra width of a 'ringed' chain. As a narrower chain with shorter pins, the VT2 is also slightly lighter.

Ebay is full of bike chains but check tensile strength before you buy.
