Removing carbs on fs650e

I want to completely remove and clean my carbs since my bike runs pretty rough, especially in 1st and second. A lot of back firing, and it actually jerks the bike a bit. Figured I'd start with this. I have the manual that gives me steps but it doesn't show me how to actually take it off the bike, just break it down. Where do I start?

Most likely a air leak around clamps re tighten them maybe , if nothing in carbie has been changed.

05 fs650e. Not sure what you mean by what carburetors, whatever is stock on the bike. Even if it is the air hoses I'd still like to remove the carbs and clean then since it's too cold to ride now and I have it off the street :) I've taken off the fuel hoses and loosened the hoses but I don't know what else I need to do to actually take it off the bike. I have a full manual but it doesn't go over actually taking it off

Remove the fuel tank. Leave the spoilers attached to the tank. Just release then 2 fuel lines and remove the 2 bolts attached to the radiator guards. Pull up and then back on the tank to remove it.
I like to remove the starter as well. Just 2 bolts and pull the starter out and set it to the side with the cable still connected.
From there you should be able to figure it out.

Ok I've already removed the tank. I'm assuming the starter is the cylinder near the bottom that has a black cord attached? I'm not familiar with a lot of bike stuff but that's why I'm here, I've got all winter to learn the ins and outs of my bike and want it to run like a dream. Is there any sources that go over all the parts, locations and such? Also what is the steps to maintaining the air filter? Mine looks old with some dirty oil on it and in the frame, which I cleaned up. I have a spare so I'd like to replace it.

I don't have this bike but isn't the carb a Keihnin FCR. Is so you'll want to remove the throttle cables, by removing the screw that holds the protective cap on and then I believe removing the cables should be fairly self explanatory once you take a look. You might want to put a piece of tape on one of the cables so you know which one goes where when it's time to put it back in. On bikes i have that do use the FCR style carb there is also a hot-start nut you might need to remove to completely get the carb to your work area. Easy to remove but be very diligent when re-installing to not crossthread the thing. Hope that helps a bit.

I've got it completely stripped now and am in the process of cleaning all the parts and jets. Another concern I'm wondering about is my float needle.

This compared to the picture in the manual leads me to believe that it is broken on the bottom, can anyone confirm? Do I need to replace it? Also, none of my gaskets are damaged that I can see but should I replace them anyways? Where do I buy replacements? And yes, it is the FCR carbs

Wish I knew :) I'd replace it myself if it looked that funny. Just to be safe. Unless I got it explicitly confirmed that it's OK.

Replacement FCR parts should be widely available ... I'd GUESS that that part is general. Where are you located?

Hi all, finally getting my carbs back in my bike and it's all hooked up besides two hose connections which for the life of me I can't find where they go. It's the hose with the T connector, there are two ends that need to be "plugged in". The rest of the hoses I have running down like they were before for overflow. Can anyone help?

theat fuel valve was knackered - I hope you replaced it. it has two thin pieces of wire around the top that hook on a tongue on the float arm.

regards

Taffy
