remove oil screen

hello!

The oil screen on my husaberg fe 400 2000 is impossible to pull out. Any ideas? I dont want to split the cases again.

another question, is there any possibility that coolant is leaking from inbetween cylinder and cases? are there any coolant circulating below the cylinder? or is the leak coming from either head gasket or oil pump?

There is also leaking oil from the oil filter, I have brand new o-rings on the oilfilter-cap. could it be that the o-rings are to small?

Best regards Thorbjørn Tholo

you can remove the cap, but can't remove the screen? doesn't make sense to me, but i've been in a mental funk lately. if you just can't get the cap off, you're not alone. too many people overtighten it. i've seen some that had to be destroyed to remove.

not likely unless a cracked cylinder. usually from a bad water pump seal, but could be a head gasket.

not likely if you replaced with oem oring. a lot of these covers are abused by the same people who abuse the drain plug.

thank you for reply!

The oil-cap is removed with ease, however the actual plastic oil screen is stuck inside the case. I'm not able to pull it out, if I pull any harder i fear it will snap. I assume the o-ring must somehow have jammed it, and then while tightening the cap it has jammed inside.

Another last issue, while turning the flywheel slowly from clokwise to anti clockwise I can feel some play. The main bearings are 2 hours old, no movement up and down, the little end bush is also 2 hours old. Therefore it has to be the big end needle bearing?? There was no up and down play in it on the last rebuild 2 hours ago. A mechanic verified that it was ok at that time. Is there anything else that create play on the flywheel?

that's a new one for me! i've been in some well abused bergs but never had a problem getting the tube out... usually the opposite. and if i recall, the filter has become hard to find?
i don't think your rotation test on the crank is valid for anything. too many variables in my opinion.
