Hi, can anyone tell me how the Recluse exp compares to the z start pro in terms of performance, clutch
feel etc? is it any better? I'm thinking of fitting One to my 390. Any thoughts appreciated.

I tried the Core EXP in my 300 KTM and did not like it. Clutch pull was harder than stock, just didn't seem to work for me. Went with the Z Start Pro and really like it. Have the Z start in my 450 Berg also, works great. I believe Rekluse still has a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you try the Core and don't like it, send it back and get the Z.

I have been racing with the EXP 2.0 and love it. Clutch doesn't do anything weird and you basically don't know it's in there until it saves your butt from stalling.

I have the zstart and wish I'd bought the core. I find I like the clutch for lofting the front over big logs at low speeds, and the clutch feel with the z is very mushy and awkward. I might splurge and get the core anyway.

I asked the same question a few months ago because I had experience with a Z-start Pro on another bike and liked it although didnt like the clutch feel when overriding the clutch.

I ended up getting the EXP 2.0 and LOVE IT! It was easy to set up after finding and reading a few relevant posts on this forum. It occasionally makes a harsh squealling sound when I override the clutch, but it works great. I have been running Rotella T oil.

The only real downside to the clutch - and this would apply to any auto clutch - is that you cannot jump start the bike if it dies. I found out the hard way when my battery crapped out on a ride due to loose terminals. My backpack has a small set of jumper cables in it now...

On that note; I keep a battery tender cable on mine to keep the battery topped up between rides. When its in the garage i just plug it in by the grab handle. I bring a second cable in my pack. It has the same leads with bare wires on the other ends. Makes for a very compact set of booster cables.
