thinking about a rekluse clutch for the 2011 FE390. anybody experienced with having these and your opinion. mostly riding trails, probably do hare scrambles, Florida riding mostly flat, sandy. But bike will go on cross country US trip with me for different riding terrain

The Rekluse EXP clutch is a great mod on almost any bike, lever feel is slightly stiffer but stays consistent. It comes in handy for nearly any riding condition. I'm not a big fan of the Z-Start Pro, because it changes the feel at the lever too much, it's too soft and changes feel with RPM. Since I decided to try one on a CRF450R in 2010, I have put one on every dirt bike I've owned since.

thank you for that info. so when shifting gears I typically use the clutch even though technically don't have to, especially downshifting I do. Whats the process like with the recluse? is it more like a superbike quick shifter no clutch for shifting gears? is it a smooth engagement? if you were starting a race for example would you start in first or second, will it bog in second?

The Rekluse is a centrifugal auto-clutch - basically if you let off the throttle, it grabs the clutch for you. Kinda cool!

I have an older Rekluse (with the strange feel of the clutch) on my 570. It's got pros and cons like everything. Overall I am a fan because of the left hand rear brake. I have much more sensitivity and feel on steep downhills using a handbrake like a mountain bike than my foot. There are some downsides with clutch feel and response at slow speeds. The newer style is supposed to be better for a more consistent feel but cost is much higher.

Good luck with your choice.

yes cost is much higher. hard to justify $900 parts cost on a 7 year old dirt bike on a bonus feature and not required engine work

Hey i have The z start pro in my 450 - 11
Best thing i have buy
Great function, easy ridning

Since the older z start pro was cheaper and came on KTMs as well you can proably find one used if you look around. Should be less than 1/2 the new style - that was what I did.
