Hey peeps

Its been a while since I poked my head in here. Too long. I see there is a thread for an upcoming FR, and it kinda brings back some fond memories of the 1 and 2. Anyway, I've been busy hacking away with our Husaberg team in Canada, and having fun with it :D

Today, Red Bull announced Red Bull Rocks and Logs, which happen May 25th in Calgary Alberta...Canada. Yes, we actually can put our dogs sleds away for a while and ride on dirt. A good friend of mine and a guy that has ridden a Husaberg since 08, Shane Cuthbertson, was asked to be the track builder for Red Bull. He and I started Corner Grass Racing Team in 08, and have travelled to Erzberg together, he's had 2 top ten results at Red Bull Romaniacs, top 5 overall Canadian off road guy, helped me put together two years of Xtinction and, now, he's a track builder  .

its open to amatuers and Pros. Watch this event grow, its intention is not to simply be a little splash, but to make its mark.

Keep well everyone, and keep the rubber side down

and our Press Release

Mother Nature played havoc as heavy rains pummelled the Calgary, Alberta area late last week, threatening Red Bull’s Rocks and Logs, Canada’s first Urban EnduroCross. Course designer, builder and CGRT founder Shane Cuthbertson, Airdrie AB, worked feverishly with Red Bull Canada to preserve what has been more than a years worth of work. After three days of weather warnings and torrential downpours, sunshine shone brightly for the weekend, allowing organisers to execute an excellent event on Sunday.

Ben Rego, Kitimat BC, and Shane, both fought their way through Pro qualifiers and heat races to occupy two of the six starting positions in final moto. Both riding Husaberg TE 300’s Ben and Shane entertained the packed Wild Rose Motocross Park, near downtown Calgary. Shane was moving forward in the pack, chasing Ben down, when a small mistake in the rocks left Shane on his back with a bent brake rotor. He fought hard to make up the lost position, but was not able to repass his lost position, finishing in 5th position. “ At the end of the day, it’s hard for a fierce competitor such as Shane, to accept a mistake and the result, they always want more, it’s what drives them. But I think, looking at the big picture, he’s got to be happy, he helped bring Xtreme Enduro back to Canada, and to work with Red Bull, as he has with this event, is very good. Its great for him, and great for our sport to have a passionate drive from Red Bull” states Lee Fryberger, CGRT team Manager.

Ben gated the main in third, and held his own through the six laps to finish on the bottom step of the podium, finishing 3rd to KTM’s Canadian Enduro Champion Bobby Prochnau, and winner and expatriate Cory Graffunder.

Competing in the amateur class, both CGRT’s Victoria Hett, Vernon BC, and Ryan Linderman, Hillcrest Mines AB, had mixed results. Ryan had a great day, riding well for his first EnduroCross, feeling comfortable until his throttle cable became dislodged from his carburetor. The consequential crash left his handle bars bent down into the radiators, and an end to his day. Victoria rode very well in her first heat race, she gated well, and came home with the victory. Her next heat didn’t leave her enough time from a poor start to pass into the top 3 qualifying positions, being bettered by A&E Racing and Marine/KTM Ben Riviere at the finish. While not finishing with a podium, both riders were had a great experience and cannot wait for Rocks and Logs to return in 2014.

“As a team, seeing an event of this magnitude in Canada is very good. Red Bull is at the pinnacle of action sports and Xtreme Enduro, and being involved at the competitive level and at the level that Shane was involved, it couldn’t get any better. Ben, as always was solid and brought us home a podium and some great press. Overall, an incredible weekend” – Lee Fryberger
