G'day faithful Husa' lovers.
I have another mare in the stable.
'05 FS650e - 13000kms.
This is 'not long after delivery' banta!
Other than everything else I'm dialing in engine wise, I want to sort my suspension.
I do love these bikes because they are racers at heart.
As with anything you cop second hand you have to start with things not suited to oneself!
The preload settings on the rear spring look like this from the previous owner:
Thats 22mm, or almost an inch, of preload. WTF?
The bike feels tall and stiff, 'skitty', and dangerously fun haha.
I am familiar with massive stiff set ups on bikes, ( Ducati owner), so I can ride it like this, but I''m new to the 'ideal' supermoto set up.
Other supermotos I've ridden have a real 'dig in' on the rear... for traction.
Does it come down to what your comfortable with?
No rules?
Does this amount of rear preload seem absurd?
It's a ***** load of fun but...
Although I'm a big fella (100kg), or 220lbs for you imperial folk, why would someone dial in that much preload? Is there some point to this madness?
The handy book says 12mm max.
I have 80mm of rider sag on the rear with this set up.
Ideal is 90 - 120mm by the book.
What do you other fellaz do for street set up moto fun?
