Rear Spring Advice: WP or Aftermarket

Top O' The Morning,

My 03 Fe400 stock rear spring isnt quite strong enough for my 200lbs(without gear). I am under the impression that WP has a spring just strong enough for my weight. My question is should I go with the WP or is there a better spring (both quality and price) in the aftermarket world? Also, I've heard progressive springs are no good for riders over 190lbs. Should I stay away or is that a load of shiat? By the way I ride mostly trails, so rock and root absorption is priority #1.
ps, Taffy, please don't tell me to look in the Doc, ok?
Thanks guys,
Aaron

Either way, aftermarket or genuine WP, should be fine. I've used both without issues. As far as progressives, there are now aftermarket companies selling "big boy" progressive springs, Factory Connection being one. These springs have a high enough initial rate that proper sag numbers can be attained even for big guys. I prefer the progressive rear springs myself. Mine is 9/11.5, and works great. I weigh 30 lbs. more than you though.

At 200 pounds, I'd say you could nearly get a PDS 4 (factory WP) to work for you.

would i tell you to do that? moi????

there are several 200 pound members here and at ktalk. all use the PDS4. as i understand it, nothing is cheaper and with the exception of the racetech springs they're all made byt the same people and are fine. the coding on the racetechs is deifferent and they aren't liked by the ktalk lads.

the PDS4 is on the edge of what of what you need but it seems to be the one if you are a trailer.

i'd also point out that if i thoiught this information was in the doc that you should look there. is there a rule that says a dad can only raise his voice once per day?

regards

Taffy
