rear shock bled out

Looking at picking up a 96 FE400 but the shock bled dry when the owner replaced the swingarm. He said it didn't leak before the swingarm work. Is this a serious problem? Is a new shock needed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
 
Should be plenty of used shocks available on ebay. Any competent suspension tech should be able to rebuild it as well.
 
all shocks are rebuildable including that one. be positive about it, although it'll cost a few bob you are going to have really good suspension at the end.
