Rear light not working

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help - My rear light on my FE550E (2004) wasn't working, so decided to check my electrical connections - even with the engine running I seem to have no power heading there. I've been told it could be an earthing fault, but don't know where to check the connection - can anyone help?

Cheers,

Martin

There's either no power OR it's an earthing fault (or else you've got two problems).

Get a voltmeter (or a known good 12v bulb on the end pair of wires). One terminal to a good earth (like the battery -ve terminal). Then starting at the rear bulb holder see if there is any voltage. If there is, you have either got a blown bulb or the earth connection on the rear light needs attention. If there's no voltage, trace the supply back from the rear light and check the voltage at every connection. You'll soon find the fault.

On my 2004 i always needed to put a piece of cloth around the connectors richt behind the bulb to keep em dry and in place

Cheers for the advice guys - I've checked the earth and it's fine, so it appears I have power issues!

I've now decided to abandon the lights as I'm not sure of the best route to take. It'll be a job for the winter :)
