rear brake tension spring

Hey Boys,
Well after a 6 week house renno, getting married and then pissing off all my family back to the USA...I can get back on to finishing the Berg so I can go riding.

So I'm putting the rear brake pedal on and as much as I hate to have to do this because you'll all take the piss I can't figure where the spring sits to gain positive pressure on the rear pedal.

Can t see a decisive tell tale mark to see where the spring sat before and can't remember how it came off when I stripped the bike...looked at the parts breakdown...had two beers....a smoke break...swore at it a little and still cant make it right.

Now remember this is my first Berg so go easy...and it's been about 8 weeks since I pulled it off. So can some one please post a photo so I can see where the tail of the spring sits for gods sake before I go nuts and kick it off the stand.

I figure this hasn't changed much on any of the same or late models

Ok...so i stopped by and had a look at a few bikes at a dealership...problem solved. My spring was out of shape hence wouldn't take up tension where it was supposed to quick tweak and good to go..

Second question for those in the know....my stand spring has had the little auto retracter taken off, as a result I've fitted the spring from the frame directly to the stand which seems to work well but it's under higher than normal tension is this cool or is there another way I should set it up....

Pete...you want me to post a pic of the brake set up...?

Cheers

As a quick side issue...I ordered a Barrett Exhaust system for the 550. Black with a black end cap....perfect fitment, came with all the right spacers for off set from the frame etc...easy as to throw on looks the goods and super fast service...those guys rock

Constant problem. I've got a 4 year old that loves time in the shed with dad & I $hit bricks whenever he goes near my FS650 as the stand flies up just lookin at it. No kids, no big deal but not much fun when you check your oil level. My FE550 doesnt do it anymore as it's worn but you can mod it so it stays down if thats your choice.

PS: good luck with the carb tuning of the barret...those things breath better than a 100m sprinter.. I had to go up 5 on the pilot just to stop the backfire under decelaration but well worth the money. Loud & proud brother.

Cheers Wildman....appreciate the heads up. Do you think the stand spring stretched will hold without the retractor, it seems that's how it was when I got the bike..but I broke the spring straight away...kicking with the stand down

Secondly...could you give me a heads up on the exact jetting you used...I picked up a jetting kit from Taffy but as yet not fitted it...maybe I can use your jetting as a starting set up with the Barrett muffler..
