Rear Brake locked now cant bleed

The other day I adjusted the rear brake to raise it up above the peg and removed some slop since it felt a little squishy. I went riding today and after a bit the rear brake started to lock up, presumably from my adjustment from the other day in combination with the rear brake getting warmed up after some use. I didn't notice it dragging for awhile, I then made it for the truck to get tools. I got there and the rear peddle was tight and wouldnt go down so I started to loosen up the adjuster bolt and pull the lever up to release some pressure. the caliper and rotor were super hot and some clear plastic on the rear brake line melted where it enters into the banjo fitting. I worked the lever up and down then it let loose I saw a small squirt of oil came out of the weep hole in the cap of the reservoir then nothing, no pressure, nothing. I tried to bleed but no pressure. I took the hose off the reservoir and I felt suction and pressure at the the res/banjo connection so I reconnected and checked the other end and only felt pressure but no suction. I have another brake line on order thinking it melted on the end and I have a hole??? When I try to bleed the brake it will give one good squirt then nothing???

Anyone have this happen or have any other suggestions? I want to do a Hare Scramble next Saturday so I'm hoping the line is the problem and my tight adjustment caused it all. Thanks in advance.

I've seen this before not sure it it'll help

a. pedal adjusted with no free play....it's like riding with your foot on the brake ever so slightly. The rotor and callpier get heat in them, the fluid expands and can't equalize back in the master cyl/ res. because of the positive pressure.

b. If it got that hot you may have toasted the seal on the piston in your calliper....I'd guts it and start again when you fit you new brake line, double check you don't over fill you res with oil, it needs some room to bleed back on forth

Good luck with it

Cheers

i had it happen to me once on a different bike, i stopped at a service station and borrowed socket driver to loosen the adjuster and just left it loose and readjusted it when i got home, never had a problem with it not wanting to bleed or stick again......the brake pads and rotor were a burned red color and smoking when i got to the station and i noticed it just 1 mile away from the station that something wasnt right and holding me back some, didnt realize what it was till i pulled in and slowed down  the pads and rotor were never right again and i ended up replacing them, they were to glazed and lost all there braking power from the incident. i would say if you brake pads are red and the rotor edge is red and the middle is really dark color, at the least you will scuff them both up with a wire wheel or sanding disc of sorts to break through the glaze and give a new surface to start over with, or replace them.

like 520pilot said you could have melted the caliper internals too or the hose could be restricted since it had some melting on it too and that could cause a similar problem to whe you have.

one thing you could try too: open the bleed screw, push the brake pads back in and see if it will go in and if fluid comes out. generally if the caliper piston goes back in and fluid comes out the caliper will be ok and the problem will be in the hose only or in the master cylinder.

did you try to take the whole line off at the same time and see if its restricted?
