Rear Brake Cylinder Alignment

While replacing all the brake pads and fluid on my 2005 FE450 a few days ago I discovered that the rear brake cylinder does not line up very good with the rear brake pedal pressure rod / plunger. The rear brake pedal would hang up and click the first few millimeters of downward movement. I drilled and slotted the two screw holes that bolt the cylinder to the frame. Positioned the angle to nearly vertical and now it works perfectly. I hate to slot things to make them fit but I think it will hold fine. I wonder if others have had this issue? Could it be that the frame has settled in and some of the dimensions have changed a bit? I don't recall this glitch when the bike was newer.

I purchased a Mityvac and it worked pretty good to suck out all of that old nasty brake fluid. I can't recall when my brakes have worked so well.

I have used these vacuum pumps when bleeding brakes for years on cars, definatly the fastest way no and need for another person, to make sure it doesnt suck air around the screw its best to apply a couple wraps of teflon tape on the bleed screw. if it doesnt suck air without it you are lucky.
