Radiator hose popped off water pump

While riding slow technical woods at high altitude my radiator hose popped
off the water pump neck. I noticed the barb is a very small dia. to keep
the hose clamp from slipping past. I am planning on welding a bead around the end of the neck and then machine it down to clean it up while leaving
enough lip to prevent the hose from slipping past. has anybody else done
this or other similar mods to repair this problem?

Thanks Phil

A common problem on pre-2003 models. Some people have created a bead with JB-Weld. On my 2002 501 I also had success by cutting grooves into the spout to keep it from slipping off.

This has happened to others . I think some have used JB weld with good results. But if you have access to a Tig or Mig set up for aluminum that would probably be a better way to go.

I got that problem on mine during a long enduro trip this spring. I bought some platic metal used to fix car silencers on a gas station. (I think it is a epoxy based material. )

I made a bigger barb, and after that it newer happend again 8)
