Radiator Braces Causing Overheating Issue???

Hi All,

My dealer installed EE radiator braces on my '09 FE590. While riding an event on the weekend I noticed I had a coolant leak coming from the top area of the rads. Turns out the T-shaped radiator hose that runs between the two radiators and runs through the frame is 1/4-3/8 of inch short (now that braces are installed) and prevents a proper seal from forming on the one radiator. The hose clamp was all but welded on, as was the securing bolt for the brace, and yet it still leaked. So my first question is; has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you solve it ( as I doubt Husaberg offers a longer version of that T-shaped radiator hose)? Also, I ended up putting almost a full liter of water into the rad in order to limp the bike home. Meaning the system was practically dry, and I am now concerned of what damage may have occurred to the motor. Any suggestions for ensuring everything is right?

after you filled it back up is it running alright?

if it is there's your answer.

sounds like the braces are not doing what they're supposed to if there causing a fitment problem.

How did you notice the leak? Smell, smoke? As long as the bike did not conk out or run funny b/c it was so hot I'd say you're okay. As Cypher says if it's running all right after refilling you should be good.

The worst that can happen now is that you will notice that it starts using coolant meaning the head gasket is bad. Just run it and see what happens.

It is strange that the Khein EFI computer does not stop the engine at a high engine temp or at least drop the rev Limit to 2,000 RPM to alert you it's hot.

i have run a a certain orange friend of mine pretty near dry and added from a camel back to get me home as well. 1 time was in a GP and it still has no issues. get a fan for your bike, the best and really only fix.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. So I get the f@#^%^& thing back together to find that there is also a leak from the T-hose itself. Wonder how long I'll be waiting for that??
Good news is that although the the system was bone dry, the bike is running fine and sounds normal.
I'm thinking a fan might be some cheap insurance. What are my options??

Good to hear no permanent damage was done.
It is possible to over tighten rad hose clamps to the point where they actually leak, could be the case for your situation.
EE braces take up minimal room as far as spacing goes, could be your installer buggered up the fitment, or your rads were bent prior.
Do this- yank the tank and shrouds, than put the tank & shrouds back on- do the rad to shroud holes line up,or are the off a tad? If their off, adjust your rads to fit- loosen hoses, check possible distortion due to impact, etc.
