radial caliper on standard forkleg mount help??

So . . . I have an FE450 enduro that i want to run on the road in summer
Ive bought a nice set of SM wheels and disks ( 320 front ) and the lovely caliper and master cylinder off the 570 SM or KTM equivuilant - but . . ovbiously it wont fit on the standard forkleg type fitting - I was going to get a spare set of forks that would fit the caliper ( and have SM damping etc) but all the KTM ones I see on Eblag have spindles directly in line with the fork leg not out front like the 570 SM ( and my enduro)

does anyone know of an adaptor for the SM caliper onto enduro forks? has anyone made one - I had a look briefly but couldnt see anything ??

cheers

Sorry no such luck, there's no adaptor unless you make it yourself.
It's way easier to mount the enduro brake disc on the SM wheels.

Or go all in and get a complete set up with forks, brakes, wheels and rear shock. :)

An adaptor is available for installing 320 disk on the front leg boot with the enduro caliper. Otherwise if you want to run a bigger caliper with the same boot, you have to change the left boot with one for radial caliper. Another option is to sell your radial caliper and buy one of the 2003 model that if I remember correctly its bolt on. Also the 6 piston is bolt on too...

My opinion,if you gonna use it only on road and not on track, you will be ok with just the bigger disk and 5.1 brake fluid.

It will seem like this:

I ended up making one as I had no luck finding one for sale. Used alloy angle at 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/2".

It was 1/2" x 1-1/2" x 2" if I recall. I Drew it out and scrutinized it for hours/days on end, then finally hacked it one day.
Hacked = I used a jigsaw, a 4-1/2" grinder/polisher and a power hand held drill to make it.
Somehow, it came out perfect. The disc is centered in the caliper, and all 4 bolts go in easily by hand.

If I had to make one again, I would rather get a block machined to fit and cradle the fork lugs. Bolt going thru the bracket, then the fork lug, then threaded into the back side of the bracket if that makes sense.

It does the job as is though.

WOW!!!! Way to go IDLE

That's a nice looking adapter for being hand built. I looks like you really took your time and it shows

Thanks for the info Guys - think I may go down the same route as IDLE - and make an adaptor from angle or billet ( if i can persuade my mate to get it machined up for me :D )

the changing of the bottom forkleg for one with a radial caliper mount looks good but probably expensive? - ive never taken a fork leg bottom off on UD forks - is it easy??
