Hi there, I'm new to the forum and thought I'd say hello! I really wish it had been here a few years ago when I was roadracing a husaberg. There is so much knowledge here, back then it was a lonely road to ride as everyone else was on yamahas and rotaxes. Anyway, since then I got sidetracked a bit by cars but kept the husaberg in the garage nice and warm and dry........
So, having been out of the road race scene for a few years, I'm hoping you guys can help - Sorry if this is turning into a long post - The motor I used and still have is a pre pump 600. It has higher c/r than normal, and has a "b" cam (at least this is how the UK importer of the time described it). It also runs a 41.8mm overbored Amal concentric (dont laugh its a doddle to tune!) a tuned length exhaust and mildly ported head. It also has what I was told was a Folan primary drive which helped get the gearing tall enough for the fast circuits I raced on (eg Snetterton and Donnington). On the rolling road it made 63bhp at 8000rpm. With bits removed like the kickstart mech' IIRC the engine weighed in at around 60lbs which made for a light old bike. At all times it was a right Bit$ch to start even using rollers, but the motor was sweet and during the only full season I did with it I only had one blown head gasket, and then they introduced a weight limit (now gone) and that was that.
Since then one or two others have tried to use the husaberg for supermono but for one reason or another have given up. Prior ro embarking on another race project I'd be interested if any of you have any idea why they've failed. I still think the hussy in a supermono or minimono chassis could be a real race winner.
If you got this far I thank you for reading, and whoever got my account working on this forum thanks too!
