I've just done my 1st race in 6/7 years a 2 n half hour affair on my 09 450 fe which i love
i i went really well apart from the fact that i had arm pump so bad in the 1st hour that i was nearly 5 Min's a lap slower, the bike was kicking like a mule front rear front rear that i could only just hold on so i stopped and began slowing the rebound on the front fork which helped a little and my lap times began to improve.
generally the bike was very good and i felt that i could run with the fastest guys if only i was bike fit and could achieve good suspension setup please tell me where i'm going wrong with the forks?

Okay,

How about telling us some pertinent information?

Your weight?

How is the bike set up currently? shock pre load, fork pre load, clicker settings?

The reason your bike is kicking could be caused by a few things. A lot of people think that when their bikes kicks it needs rebound, when in fact the reason it's kicking could be that it is set up too soft and is blowing through the travel thus causing a lot of rebound action.

When you increased the rebound, you also increased the compression damping to a degree. Each of those clickers has an effect on the other, and that is overall oil flow.

So let us know where you are at and we'll go from there.

There definitely is a balance with compression and rebound.
As an example of trouble shooting here are my preferences.
When I notice a problem with suspension I usually look to address the compression
first. The reason why is that I am aware of the action of rebound in keeping
the front wheel planted. So I look to compression first whether it feels to stiff
or soft.
I have adjusted rebound firmer at times for improved cornering .
For me, the thought of softening rebound by itself seems a little odd.
I have softened compression a click though, and left the rebound with
good results
If your bouncing all over the place though you may just be too soft like Delo said
