Question what boots to buy?

Turning to you clever husabergians!

Quick background, Ive used a pair of boots I liked very much but theyre falling apart. So I had a weak moment of vanity wanting to look proper as the current boots dont look good anymore and bought a set of alpinestars tech 3 (ok dont bash me please, *scraping foot looking down*)
Admit I didnt do a too good research. Tried them once on a ride and in short I wont even put them on again as it felt like I had no feet, absolutely NO feedback/feel, and my riding style is dependant on rear braking -> disaster.

So what boots to buy that provides good feedback/feel??
Its for trails riding.

Thanks for taking your time reading :) /Tom

Local people like Gaerne boots a lot. They're said to fit to wide feet.

I have a rather narrow bridge of the foot. I have Fox Forma Pro boots and they are amazing. Very comfortable with good feel.

I have a pair of Gaerne Balance Oiled boots that have felt comfortable from day one. I use them for trials, trails and if I have a lot of walking to do. Very comfortable.

My hard core single track boots are Alpinestars Tech 10's. A bit stiff, but some of the best protection money can buy.

A lot of walking?!? hey I own a berg
Joking, thanks for feedback!
Ive done a lot of trails riding but never hung out with MXers, riding MX the feedback can stand back for protection?

I do'nt wear mx boots I ride with sidi adventure boots for almost 4 years now and had some crashes with them and didn't hurt my foot so I think they are good enough because I did break other bones:p (hand/shoulder/kneecap )
The feel is good and I think they are very comfy to wear all day but they do squeeeeeeek ;)

(fwiw mx-looking boots are very different between types - some are like ski boots, all hard plastic - and others are elegantly hinged and comfortable, these relay more feel - and these be walked in just fine (but a special lumbering gait is needed :) ) )

gaerne balance oiled are very cool! trials-based adventure/trails boots as I understand them! ! i really want to try a pair some day

then Gaerne make versions of their mx-style boots with an "enduro" sole which is a Vibram hiking sole boot i.e. with a grip pattern - seems very interesting for trail riding, to be able to push and walk etc, but a local guy did mention that they do tend to "catch" on obstacles at speed :/ not a catastrophic disadvantage but a factor (and something to get used to keeping in mind!) ... Fwiw i'll be trying to get my "hands" on a pair of hiking-soled boots for next time

Belg, you should have MX boots on your hands shoulder kneecaps all the time, please send me a pic of that :D

Tourist youre spot on for what Im looking for, grip I like none of though, flush sole preffered.
There are as many styles as there are riders and I use the rear brake for presicion and steering really, without it Im lost, not just a little lost but completely lost.
I also like to feel where on the foot the pegs are.

Asked around locally too and those ends too point at Gaerli.

I use SIDI cross fires... no break in required very good protection and lots of spare parts available

Alpine stars tech 8 ... Never liked the fit and the buckles sucked.
661 flight boots. Great boots and buckles
Sidi crossfires. Great buckles, super comfortable and a hinged ankle... They win!
Hinged ankle really makes a difference in feel and comfort.

4 seasons on my crossfires, absolutely love them.

When they wear out, i'll be getting the latest version of them.

Only thing i'd do differently is i'd likely go with the SRS version which has the replaceable soles. They come with supermoto style sliding soles, but I'd find the TA / offroad soles and bolt those up and keep the SRS soles for street duty.

Helps that I have a supermoto wheels/brake setup, and use the crossfires on the street as well.

Crossfires if you have the dinero! Epic boots.

Gaerne's are good on a budget.

I've been rocking Sidi dirt boots for 12 years. 3 resoles and they keep on rocking!

Thor Ratchets. Easy for the old guys lol. Lots of support in a leather boot with easy ratchet system. Also lots of foam and comfort. I have an issue with water though lol. but always in the water so pretty much my own fault. Good bang for the buck :)

I do agree with Woods. Sidi hands down. I just can seem to stomach the cost though.

Hi

I've been using TECH 7 for a lot of years, but they weren't spectacular, just got great deals with them.

But, this last version of the TECH 7 are a completely different game, very comfortable, very good !

Just watch the size, the previous version I had a size 8 and they were tight, last ones also bought size 8 and thought they wore also tight, but after the first ride they were perfect.

ZAGA

I have gearne sg10s very nice and good value but compared to some other boots they are a bit heavy

i had vintage fox before that .. no ankle hinge but very comfortable and very light

SIDI : ADVENTURE - Zwart | RAD.EU
these are the ones I also prefered the sidi srs boots first but because of the price and because they where a bit high for using on suit with kneesliders I chose the cheaper/smaller/lighter adventure sidi and no regrets ;)
After a lot of use the only thing that is wearing a little is the sole but you can replace them cheap and use these boots forever sidi has replacement parts for almost everything:)
Those gaerne boots for supermoto use also look real nice with replacable vibram soles:cool:

Thanks gents! Good feedback, I dont mind the price as Im going to wear them for 10 years + if I like em :)
