question about removal of 02 rear shock unit?

hi everybody need a little help. when removing the rear shock from my 02 fc 550 is their anything else other than the top bolt and the one inside the swinging arm hold the unit on (is their a sleeve going thru the bottom link in the swinging arm) thanks mark.

Hello Mark,
It's been a while since I've had the rear shock off of my '02fe501e, but as I recall it just has the upper and lower bolts holding it in with no inner shaft.If you've got both bolts removed it should slide out if not try tapping it with a rubber mallet

use a prise bar to shove the shock back and out of the swing arm. have a very careful look at the lower 'heim' bearing. unless greased once per year they shag out fairly quickly.

thanks for the advice, the shock is now off and in for a service. the service guy told me that they are no longer able to servive the units themselves and all WP units have to be sent to authorised WP dealer as WP will no longer supply the parts to service them :?:
