Hi Guys and Gals, I am new to this forum, As the FE450 and FE650 look similar, ie Frame and Plastics etc, how can you easily tell them apart? or can you only use the engine number etc?
Cheers in advance

Thanks Fuel Tap and starter angle also look different?
Cheers

Hi

Just don't know exactly the difference. In case you worry if you can feet a 650 into the space of a 450, just let you know that I have a 2003 650 fitted into a 2005 frame were it use to be a 450, and fits perfectly. It's taller but finds its place right the way.

Regards

Nothing really from the outside looking at it but from the cyl head siting higher up like as well as the carby like wise.

It's just like as if the barrel is longer, although it does not have a barrel that can be un bolted and taken out like, so each one from 450 to 550 to 650 has a longer barrel within the casing, so you can not make a 450 a 550 or 650 etc ect.

Most people can not get their head around that the gearbox is not bigger on the 550 or 650 as they are expecting to see a great big heavy lump like you see with Jap bikes.

I think the 650 is only 1 KG more over the 450, now most people can not fathom that fact.

It's much like a only an extended barrel on a 450 Jap bike engine in theory to save weight.

THEY HAVE DIFFERENT IGNITION MODULES ALTHOUGH i'M TOLD A 450 IGNITION ON A 650 IS A GREAT IDEA.

the inlet rubber is different twixt head and carb. even the rubber boot is slightly different but they fit....just!

the 650 has different headers to the 450 but the same middle and tail section. the jetting is about the same.

cheers
