pump seal

I dont have a pressed, and to tap it in with a Socket and hammer

I don't either, I just used a "c"-clamp and a couple sockets and washer. I used the washer between the socket and seal.

Good call on the groove. I thought there was a double lip seal that someone sourced aside from OEM to help w/ the groove issue??? Maybe orangeberg??? It's been a few beers and knocks to my noggin'. :D

can use a generic 10x18x6 its rubber coated and because of the width if you install it deep enough, the lip will run in a different spot.

The other question is has any body removed this seal with the casing in situe.

Sparks.

I have the same question, is it possible to change the wp seal without taking off the side cover?
I'm not scared of taking it off, I just don't have a side cover gasket on hand and don't think I'll have a new one here before my next ride.
And you know it'll rip if you don't have a spare.

I have.

Drilled a couple of small holes, CAREFULLY, and inserted self tappers with which to extract the seal with. I then used my Dremel to remove a small amount of material, a notch, in two places so that next time I can use a pointy tool to lever it out. And judging by the weep that's appeared recently, won't be too far away I guess. I also used generic seal like OrangeBerg suggests and varied the position to get the seal on fresh shaft.

Steve

I was thinking of doing the exact same things, thanks for the confirmation.
Great minds think alike. :D

Supposedly Kawasaki seal P/N 92049-0104 has the same dimensions but is 2mm deeper to put the lip of the seal in a different spot.
I'll be ordering one today and post how it works.
Lou.

Here's a comparison of that kawasaki seal to the oem berg wp seal.
ID and OD are the same, only difference, as you see, is the kawi seal is about 1mm wider.
Nothing revolutionary here but if you're in a bind, people can probably find a kawi dealer before a berg one, at least in the U.S.
