Pulled the trigger on a 05' fe450

I am officially a member of the gang! Just pulled the trigger on an 05' fe450. I will post my first ride report once the bike has arrived. The dealer just ordered a baja designs dual sport kit and should have it all set up in a week or two. My plan was to purchase a 550 but I couldn't justify the $2500 difference for an 07', as our trails are tight eastern NC terrain, I feel certain I'll be happy with the 450, I'll just miss the outright horsepower I've read about when we're on the open fireroads.

The push for my purchase is the Maggie Valley Dual Sport event this October in NC. I haven't ridden the event but the terrain is awesome. The following is the link if anyone is interested riding the event.

I haven't ridden it in ages, but all of the locals say that the tail of the dragon is starting to become less fun than it's worth. The troopers are writing tickets as fast as their hands will allow, and the cooper and s2000 clubs are running through it constantly, so it's like running it single file at 5-10 mph

Besides, there are a lot better roads to run to keep away from the congestion. Blueridge Parkway is a very nice run.

your 450 is better for the tighter trails and even normal single track. you wont miss the 550.
