Problems in store?

Hi all, I am new to this forum, have joined as I am looking for some helpful advice. I own a 2003 Husaberg FE 400E which I bought around a year ago. Had some great fun on it last summer but unfortunately the throttle cable snapped in October and I decided to lay the bike up in the garage for the winter. Now the summer is beckoning and I want to start using my Berg again. Have purchased the throttle cable and a new iridium spark plug. BUT what else should I do / check etc before attempting to get her running again? I will put fresh fuel in her and I have an optimax battery charger which I intend to hook her up to but thats all I can think of! Now as I said, this bike has'nt been started in 6 months! Any advice will be greatly received and I will let you know how I get on. Thanks in advance!

RE: Problems in store

Well, one issue you may have is with the carb if you didn't drain the bowl before storage, these carbs get gummed up pretty easily. Other than that I have heard only good things about the 400 engine's durability. Good luck!

RE: Problems in store

I'd do an oil/filter change, new (or clean) air filter, new plug, fresh fuel etc. If you feel confident enough do the valves as well.
New brake fluid and check the pads, change the coolant. Oil the new cables. Check and grease the wheel, swing, suspension and head race bearings.
Check the chain for tight spots and lube/clean as required.
Check the spokes for tightness and the wheels for trueness, check the tyres over.

This all sounds a lot but should be doable in a morning/afternoon.

Doing all this will help it sail through a MOT and set you up for a season of stress free riding.
