Problem with timing chain length and capacity

Hello,
i just bought FC 501 +- 98year (still dont know about capacity of this engine, im looking for diffrences between 501/600ccm3) and here is a question:

I have 82 link chain inside, so it's a 600cmm3? or 501 with chain from 600? (i tink its not possible to put 78 link inside. But i need to know in 100%)

How i can check what engine is it? :)

Sorry for my english :)

Your english is good but I bet your mom's perogies are better.

You could kinda measure the bore and stroke.

The 82 link 600 chain fits so tightly that it would be impossible to use a 78 link chain in a 600.

The 600 piston leaves about 3mm or so of bore at TDC (the piston does not go all the way to the top of the cylinder).

The cylinder should have a stamp on it showing the CC.

Take a lot of pics of your 98 cylinder and I will compare to my 97 & 98 600.

Measure the length of your cylinder and post the results.

It may take a little while to get back to you as I am at so called work right now.

Thx for answer, ill check it tommorow ;)
