I was wondering if anybody has ever used a pro-x piston before and What did you think of them because I can get one at half the price of any other piston out there so it makes me a little sceptical about the quality. it would be for my 2005 fs650e that is now only for street use. Thanks Dave

Pro-x pistons are good quality, I am using them in my MX bikes (KTM/Kawa 250F) without problems :)

i didn't think Pro-x made pistons for the 2004-8 Husabergs? infact there isn't even a Husaberg page in their catalogue?

sometimes people advertise with no idea what they are doing....so check them out carefully. I thought 180GBP was a good price (well it is the retail I guess) but I have to have them made. I've done about 40 now.

that is why you can pick your own compression ratio for the same money, the piston is made individually.

You can also order a KTM piston from wossner for the 560cc big bore kit. It is same size as husaberg piston.

And much cheaper

from what I can see Taffy there is a piston kit on pro-x's website but there cast pistons and not forged pistons. forged pistons are better quality and last longer.
As for your pistons Taffy I have one of your Tallboy pistons in my bike now and have gotten 240hrs-17000kms out of it with one ring change. I have'nt taken the motor down yet but I dont think it will go another 120hrs till next rebuild. I am pleased with your piston but for now I'm just looking at prices.

Elsnorro, Is the KTM 560 big bore kit the same piston as the husaberg 2004-2008 husaberg 650 piston. I guess the stoke is just shorter on the 560.

Elsnorro do you have the P/N of the KTM piston from wozzner?

that isn't the right piston Elsnorro? a 560 piston is the wrong shape completely? If you put that piston in you'll end up with the piston hitting the head and a compression of 17 to 1.....

the Husaberg piston is concave and the 560 is convex Contiman?

sorry but this isn't right?

Taffy

I think the actual question here should be"Will this piston work". Not so much was it an original Husaberg OEM piston. Yes the originals are concave, but that does not mean the other piston will not work. There are other dimensions to consider.Valve pocket depth, pin to deck etc..

Sounds like pro x piston are forged not cast for the four strokes and cast for the 2 strokes.
i used Prox stuff extensively through my shop an still do, i recommend them and prefer there conrod kits to any other. Made in Japan and im sure they make stuff for Yamaha eg a pro x ring set will fit a genuine yamaha piston lets say a YZ 426 ??. i had more trouble with woosner pistons ( i get them from both from the same place) but im sure as Taffy said Pro X do list much for Husaberg.

Good afternoon. Since we're talking about pistons ktm and husaberg. Does anyone know if the piston ktm 505 Fits husaberg fe 450 2004?Ktm 100x3.9x2.4Husaberg 100x3.9x2.3How about;Your help will be invaluable

I just recieved a woosner piston for a 650 and its not concave like the original but the box states its fits 550/650 2004-2009 is this correct also does look as strong as the original. The bosses that hold the gudgen pin are norrower and the skirts on sides are a couple mm shorter the main shirt is about the same but the gusseting inside piston is not as good on the wossner. The rings are a two oil ring with expander not like the original. Also the overall height is a mm or two taller. Maybe taffy give us your thoughts you sell these too.

I'd be mad to tell anyone how I do it!

but you should all know that Wossner don't make a 2004-2008 concave piston and their claims are (although innocently done - some would say ignorantly done) false!

that is why my flat tops are 153 and my specials are 180.

Taffy

i put my new wossner piston in the bore it sits lower than the concave piston so i guess it compensates for not being concave.

Is anyone using the suppied ones from wossner 8551 that are not concave in their 04-08 650's ?

Sorry taffy wasn't saying asking for anything but information since you sell them mines a 8551 model piston.
