I have ben playing around with the set up of my forks for quite awhile now but have pretty much left the preload alone as it seemed fine. have just pulled them apart so thought i would alter it, in the doc it says remove the shims/spacers on top of the springs. i only appear to have two of these one around 10mm and the other 1mm. my question is can i completely remove these?
it's an 03 Fe400
thanks

you need to build the top half of the leg and check the gap with none of the plastic preload washers fitted. you must take the gap up with the minimum!!!!

many here have plenty of preload packers floating around. just get your sheeyut together, read the doc, do two 'top legs' and report back.

BTW, the reason i say 2 is because each leg will be a different length.

Thanks Tafffy, i have read the doc so many times it hurts and as for the thread about tuning your forks for enduros i read it again from start to finish today, and boy does it make my head spin  as long as i know the 10mm whit bit of plastic is one of the pakers and not a stop, i'm good with it. i know a certain person on this forum got a little arsey recently, but i find the advice and thoughts generated here are invaluable
