Has anyone tried the powernow and powernow plus on their Husabergs. I have read a lot of good things about it, but dont know anyone personally that has tried it.

The Powernow gizmo is an inductee into the Hall of Shame. It was stated by Dale Lineaweaver, who has more knowledge in this field than I could ever hope for, not an exact quote but: anything that restricts the flow of air into the carburetor is considered a choke. Look to increase your airflow not restrict it.

Is the powernow something like the Powerblade???

A buddy of mine installed a powerblade on his CRF and he claimed that he could feel the increase in low and mid range power.

Shall I tell him to wake up and smell my Husabergexhaust or could he be right????

Trials bikes use very small venturi carburetors to boost low speed output don't they? :)

Have never seen a test on a power now claiming increased HP. Many claim better part throttle response, but have yet to even see one of the things other than pics

The net low speed horsepower increases are in direct proportion to the lightening effect of the wallet. Most power increases result from horsepower to weight ratio changes and not dynamic airflow changes.

One of the big porting shops(I can't remember
who) did a test on these various gizmos on
a flowmeter. All of them restricted air flow at
higher RPMs.It was in I believe Motorcyclist
magazine a couple of years ago.

I do recall seeing a dyno run of bikes (yzf250, I think) with an without the powernow device, it also ran the dyno run at full throttle (typical) and half throttle (this is not typcial on a dyno). Seems to me that power was 2 to 3 hp higher on the half throttle run with the powernow. I see more 125 riders using them (me included) to gain bottom end when using 38 or 39mm carbs for woods use. At 1/4 to 1/2 throttle at under 7,000 rpm, the difference is amazing, but I haven't (and may not) got it running perfect on top.

if you left a shop rag in the airbox and your bike ran better...
Could you sell shop rags as a performance enhancer?
Proper jetting and use of the throttle grip is secondary to the aftermarket.
Dale?

All I read is that this gizmo is good for the not so good rider who never goes over 7000.

I think I should get one. :?

Budget Powernow device

what is that!

that must be the largest K & N in the world. so where is the rest of the 'stroked' harley :D

i believe that having the correct jetting first is the most important thing. but that takes effort and again it's couch potato time isn't it....

but if anyone wants to send it over to me with my absolutely superb seat-of-the-pants dyno testing facility; i'd be happy to test it!

regards

Taffy

Hi Bill,
What a wonderful analogy. :D

Sincerely,

Most Yams Have These And The Owners Drill A 6mm Hole In The Centre To Get There Bikes Running Better IIRC.
Are The Yam Riders Complete !"£$%^& Or Fooled Into Thinking That These Work Better That Way?

It probably restricts the air and forces more fuel into the very lean stock carb. Making it a bit more responsive on the bottom.
my pea brain logic
