Power parts Map switch

I'm just trying to fit one of these but a few observations first.

2011 450FE

1. I thought these came with an underseat map switch as standard?
2. I ordered the bike with a handle bar switch and was disappointed to find the silly 11 position thing.
3. Disappointed at being charged for a useless switch, I ordered the power parts switch at £75
4. Disappointed to see this is a two position switch not a three way. The kit comes with an 11 position one (already have one?) Both are required. You set the 11 pos to either soft or agressive. The two position handle bar switch then moves between standard and your other chosen mode.
5. The leaflet says you can change on the move but it only takes effect one you close the throttle

The fitting instructions have pics which look nothing like my 450, it has info for the 4 and 2 stroke versions but in the 4 stroke instructions the picture of where to connect looks to be of the 2 stroke or an older model.

The kit comes with a long lead, advises to remove the tank and route back from the bars, plug one of the two plugs into the loom and the other into the 11 position switch. Well I can only see the plug which appears from the loom near the handle bars where the previous switch was fitted. No sign of another under the tank or near the battery.

The whole business of these switches seems to be poorly thought through by the manufacturer and poorly informed by the dealer.

So having taken the bike apart it seems all I needed to do was add the new handle bar switch between the existing plug and 11 position switch. Which leaves a heap of cable to hide and a spare 11 position switch?

your maybe getting these mixed up with some of the ktm models which use the 11 position switch under the seat and then use the two position switch in the bar to switch between standard power and whichever setting you've chosen under the seat.

the bergs just uses the 11 position switch on the bars, they dont even list a 2 or 3 position mapping switch for the 450. :?

In the instructions i had all the pictures were of ktm's not bergs and the instructions themselves were not the clearest.

Had me scratching my head for about 5 minutes but it was pretty straight forward to figure out.

cant you just return the switch if you dont need it?

The two position switch you have is for the two-stroke bikes, not the four-strokes. The four-strokes use the 11 position switch on the bars. You must shut the four-strokes off for the change to take effect. There are companies that make different switches that are much more user friendly. I have the 11 position switch and just leave it in the aggressive position.

The switch is for the 4 strokes as the plugs are different according to the leaflet. Its listed as such on the AMS website (UK Berg dealer)

Fitted now and appears to work, not taken it for a ride but blipping the throttle I can tell. The instructions are incorrect though. I did the loom protection job while I had the tank off otherwise I'd have removed it all for nothing as the switch fits at the front.

Fitted some grip heaters while I was at it too :)

Hello, I´m new to husaberg and have a 2012 FE450.
Husaberg is a mistery.
I want to change the maps but cant find much information on how to do it.
Are the maps factory standard? or is the user able to change them? how can I change the maps?
Are these maps Injetion and ignition maps or can only injection be changed by user?
Is the 600Euro User Setting Tool useful or do the maps changes need to be done by dealer?
What is the available dealer is useless, can Husaberg be contacted directly?
Do any of you have UST settings for different riding conditions, so I don´t need to be guessing so much?

As you can see, I have lots of questions.
Thanks in advance for your help.

As I understand it there is an ignition map installed in the ECU. A dealer can change it for you. My dealer was clueless, but I found a dealer in the forums that offered to reflash my ECU with the competition map.

I believe there is also a user tuning tool that allows you to modify the map. It is fairly expensive and you need to know what you are doing.

There is also the optional "map switch" which alters the timing. It has three modes; soft, normal, and aggressive. I find the Husaberg switch to be a real pain to use, so I ended up making my own. Others buy the 70 Degree or Trail Tech switch.

I can confirm the power parts switch does work well now fitted even if it does just give two settings without moving the 11 position one. -f you are set up and able to make the most of the aggressive setting I doubt you'd bbe bothered about switching to the traction unless conditions were very slippy anyway.

For me the lower two are fine.
