has anyone here ever powder coated things such as clutch cover, swing arm, or water pump on their off road bikes? I know in time it would get dinged, but I'm just hoping to get peoples opinions or experiences. Anyone have pictures?

isnt the frame powder coated from the factory? i am in the progress of getting a bunch of parts done but for supermoto use....powder coat is way tougher then paint and used a lot off road too, from what i have found is not very expensive either, even less probably compared to a profressional paint job....put it everywhere!!

I sold the bike a while ago :(
Anyway here are some pics showing the powder coated swingarm:

Mr X,
I'm with the other guys, while powdercoat technology has come along way in recent years if your bike is for offrad use you'll find it gets scuffed quickly an dwill look flat after you've washed it, kind of like it's had a gentle rub with a scotchbrite pad.

It will wear pretty well though and a way to keep it looking fresh is to give it a light spray with a quality brad silicon spray and wipe with a rag and it'll look like new again. Also for what it's worth, powdercoat is actually a porous product buy comparison to paint, but for use on a Berg it would be fine, I'm about to get aspare battery box done in satin black and it'll sit fit and wear well.

Cheers

Ive' done a couple of parts on the berg. Most recent was the clutch cover, I have put a coat of clear powdercoating on top to keep it shinny.

Nice one helithumper :!:

I was thinking about blacking out my husaberg letters, but now i may just steal your idea :D

When you powder coat a swing arm you have to remove the bearings right?

I really know the answer to that already its just not what i wanted to hear so i has to ask

Hmmmm... it's over ten years ago...
But if I remember correctly I didn't remove the swing arm bearings.
The job was done by Schleenbecker back then and they sealed all bore-holes and screw threads.

hhhm maybe ill check with the guy who does my stuff and see what his thoughts are.....i mean they really only bake it at 400ish degrees farenheit which isnt terribly hot, i think grease splatter is the main concern.... if its not totally clean it could run out and run the finish and/or pop and boil and leave little fish eyes all over, maybe its just how its prepped,

cheers
