I bought a husaberg 501 the other day i believe it is the FE model...which would make it dual purpose? or just enduro... the VIN reads OOOOOOO2 or so forth.....i am guessing it is the second production made of the 501...meaning the first one went toe museum and i might have the first one sold..... i will have to check the year im guessing it is a 95....just set it up for super moto....it sat in storage since 4 days ago.... guess i got the first ride on it....assuming the last owner didnt ride it with plastic on the seat and the tags still on it.....

if it is the fe model the suspension is not set up for super moto .

FE is enduro [ dual purpose in my area ] , FC is moto cross , FS is super moto .

i live in illinois and the state passed it as a "street legal" bike ... we put a baja design light kit on it and street tires...i just want to know if this bike is any significant

it aint going to be the second production 501 since husaberg has been in existence since '89 and 501 is the original engine size they went with.

if it's the second fe501, then my 98 fe400 was #13 :2cool:
you'd wonder how they could stay in business all those years, musta been a front for the mob :hathat333: i think if you look at the whole vin, you'll see it was prolly the second bike of that series of a particular year.

what im trying to get to is that if this is the first year for this model bike....being water cooled four stroke.... yada yada and it is reading 0........2 then wouldnt that make it number 2 of this model?

nope. bergs have been water cooled since the begining.
as ned says its prob just the second one of the 95 production run which is nothing particularily impressive and isn't going to add any value.

I am pretty sure that I have the last Australian ADR'd '05 FE 550 e, cos it's compliance plate states that it was manufactured in January '06.

Just need the black enamel, a black seatcover and the '06 tank and shrouds, and it'll pass for a 2006 model, but I already told my wife that I wasnt selling it, the next one is 'another bike' not a 'trade in'.

Azza.

i appreciate you guys helpin in some sort....im just new to the husaberg name...i ve been riding for 14 years just never anything exotic like this...you have to buy ohlins suspension and brembo brakes for a yahmaha or honda and so forth....i wonder what you buy to have better parts for a berg....? one last thing when was the first year for "body style" for the bike like mine(1995)

think the 95 was just a slight evolution of the original '89 design. the major changes occured about 2000.

somone will correct me if i'm wrong.

I think 95 is the first year before the non-upside-down, or "verted", or non-inverted forks. That doesn't necessarily add to the shock and awe of the bike, but I personally like the inverted forks, though it seems common knowledge the the non-inverted WP's were better performing.

Anyway, welcome to the club, friend. I have the same bike at home!!!
