I'm thinking of trading a 2002 650L for 2005 450FE with 2400 miles. What is track record for reliability with this year. are there larger fuel tanks (owner says its a 3.1gal) what the mileage range on a full tank ?

I would rate reliability as excellent on 04-08 models but I am partial to these bikes. The stock tank is less than 3.1 gallons. Clarke made an almost 5 gal tank which is no longer produced so you would need to purchase one used. Also Husaberg made a 1 gal under seat auxiliary tank.
I have had my 2005 FE 550 for about 3 years now with ZERO issues. I bought it with 180 hours and now have about 280 or so hours on it. Probably due for a rebuild pretty soon, but I plan on keeping the bike because it is so good. I change the oil every 15 hours or less.
