Porting Cylinder Heads

Does anyone have experience with "porting" the 02, 03 cylinder heads ?

I am wondering whether the removal of the valve stem guide inside of the ports has any reduction of valve life ?

I have a ported 03 head with the guides completed gone from within the port.

Please help.

shorter guides mean higher maintenance! i would leave them in and keep the valve seat width to a minimum and keep guide valve control instead. you can port a head around the guide?

there are a couple of people who will do you an excellent job of porting. mez tuning is run by an old hungarian and he really knows his stuff.

the other is gary cotterill at denvar motorcycles in norfolk. i always kept mine long.

I got mine from Iddon Racing.

I'm just a worrier, the guide is cut flush with the port wall.

Paul Iddon, reckons its the usual to remove the guide flush to the wall.

It is not the usual to remove the guides from the heads, that will promote excessive valve and valve seat wear. specially if the valve size has bin increased.
I don't know ho did this head but if its dun by the same person that's doing Iddon's engines now then it mast be a very special on!
I think Iddon's engines have the best power delivery out there! So don't wory

Isn't Christian riding Husqvarna with HM Racing now? :?

As for SM power delivery, watch Sam Warren riding the S&R Berg in the ACU open class, standing 3rd I reckon at the moment. No dnf's last season and the 2 he had this season is because his bike was spinning the rims inside the beads on the new Pirelli tyres (solution from Pirelli is to use coke instead of tyre soap...... seriously)

Anyways as a mate of the guys who own S&R (he spanners my bike as well) and having the privilege of riding Sams bike on a setup afternoon we had (just my 650 and his). I can assure you that his bike is making a whole lot more than the 65 RWHP mine is making

Poke :D

Cristian is riding Husqvarna's now, definitely not prepared by HM. I think the same person that was preparing his Husabergs is still doing his motors.Sam Woren's bikes are very good but not in the same league i'm afraid.Sam is 9th in the championship.
