I am about to put the dual valve spring kit along with new performance cam and while i am at it i might get the head ported and polished first thing i would like to know the valves what is the biggest or best size i can go up to would this involve changing the valve seats would i be better getting custom valves or can i match some up off something else ,also by making valves bigger could there be a problem of hitting the crown of the piston any thoughts would be great or links to any threads

yep, try the doc!

The dual valve spring conversion, cam, head porting and polishing are reasonably easy to do improvements.

Modifying the head to use different valves sizes/seats/etc seems like a lot of work and hassle for little gain.

porting a head takes about 8-12 hours. to do it properly you have to remove the valve guides as well. and when your done you should machine away the area that's no longer 360d wrap around the guide (as OEM).

cutting new, wider valve seats takes 15 minutes. at my local engineers they charge just £3 per seat for a 3-angle cut to your spec. so that tells you how cheap and how quick.

RE: Re: RE: port and polish

are you being funny?

i trust not.

look at the doc, at engine rebuild, there is a husaberg factory spec sheet of crank widthc, valve to guide slackness etc. and then there is the three angle cut. you take your head to a machine shop, tell him what you want. the man does it?

sorry if i missed something but it is that easy. all you need to know is what a valve seat will take before it loses it's structural strength and integrity. on a husaberg it's very good, on my dukes it was bloody dreadful!

Had mine done by this guy he is in Melbourne.
New seats and valve guides
I sourced some Ferrea super alloy (SS) valves which I cut to size. 37mm inlet 32mm exhaust.
If you are handy on the lathe.
Did porting took considerably longer than Taffy to do.
Let me know if you want more details

That's right! Who done it, thatbody knows!!! Remember that gas flows not in way like you want it, but in way like it wants to flow!!!!!!!
