Popping on E-start

Hi!

So my problem is that whenever I use the e-start on my bike it makes a bang just before it starts. Almost every time. Sometimes it is hardly noticeable and sometimes it makes a great bang like a fire cracker. It runs great otherwise.
What can this be?

Thx, Tom

you're buring off unburnt fuel in the exhaust system. the big question then becomes why?

fuel valve too weak?
fuel tap doesn't seal?

wasted spark initially?

valve clearances? possibly your exhaust valve isn't sealing. 80% of the Husabergs I work on have tipped exhaust seats, only a fraction maybe but enough for it not to seal!

regards

Taffy

I would believe it is not the tappet to blame since a while back I had a fully different engine on the bike and it was doing this exact same thing but the difference was that it wasnt making this loud bangs. The exhaust was different as well back then, it was the stock exhaust and maybe the fuel couldn't ignite as well as now with the gutted exhaust. Could it be that it is getting too much fuel? On both engines I used the same carb.

Cheers,Tom

Hi Guys,

fuel valve, i guess i am being stupid now, but do you mean with that, the inlet valve? or something completely different?

Regards, Marcel

No mate, it is the valve in the carburetor which closes off fuel when the bowl is filled so it doesnt overflow. It is not the inlet valve.
