its a normal thread RH mate. Have you tried giving the bolt some love with a hammer and drift ?

Yep the bolt is now rounded to the point that my 13 mm spanner just slips on the bolt end when i try to turn it..sigh :furious:

Even the sump plug was really hard to remove..when screwing it back in, it only goes smoothly into the threads a few turns before it requires the use of a spanner to put it back in..the clown that owned the bike before me has majorly over tightened the bolts..

oooh bugger. Not much space there but you might be able to weld a nut on there and have a crack. The heat from welding might free it up. If it were me I might be tempted to drill it out and use an extractor of some sort.

Or just say f#@k it and ride, leave the strainer there, I wouldn't worry about blocking the strainer, if that happens you got problems anyway and the motor will have to come apart.

Not happy jan! this is the 2nd drain plug issue I've had with a used KTM..i left the oil screen plug in for now as i don't want to further damage the plug head, its bad enough for a ring spanner to slip but not totally mangled yet.

I used a thread chaser on the oil drain plug thread and reinstalled the drain plug without issue which is a small victory..and decided im going to just fill her up with some fresh oil and drop it off at the local KTM dealer who removed the last stuck plug for me. I decided not to change the filter just yet because its only around 25Km's from here to there and i will have them dump the oil again and change the filter while they have it which shouldn't be a problem i hope..

I also stumbled upon this thread while searching for an answer to my problem..read page 3 the final post and you will see that the poor guy had the exact same issue as me on a brand new 570..
