PLEASE HELP 2010 FE450 Exhaust Question

Hey,
I know there are a lot of posts about this but none of them ever answer my question. I have 100% stock exhaust. I think I'm gonna go with the FMF header instead of the Akro because it also includes mid-size. NOW FOR THE MAIN QUESTION: CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHICH MUFFLER/END-CAN IS BUSTER ON MY BIKE? FMF 4.1 OR AKRO. if anybody's God any dyno numbers or any kind of information for me it would be very very helpful and I appreciate it thanks guys bye

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking,.. maybe someone could translate for me

Anyway I have the FMF ti header and mid-pipe on my 450 because I felt the stock exhaust was too restrictive. I couldn't justify the extra expense for the muffler though and instead just gutted the stock one.

Aftermarket muffler isn't going to really get you much performance gain over the gutted stock one from what I've read. Maybe 1-1.5 hp. If your can says KTM Krizman on the back then it's already a straight thru design, only real restriction is in the end cap.

Oh, the stock muffler is kinda heavy and you can probably save a few lbs by going aftermarket. Like I said, for me it wasn't worth the cost. But if you just have to have one you might as well go FMF if you're getting their header too.

sorry for any confusion that I may have produced in my first post. What I basically was looking for what's the answer to the question of "Which Header and muffler combination is going to give me the best performance gains". Either the FMF Header and FMF 4.1 muffler, FMF header with Akrapovic muffler, Akrapovic Header with FMF muffler or Akrapovic header with Akrapovic muffler.

From what I was told from my dealer, who compete on international level and has a dyno, the akra header doesn't give much if anything extra but it lowers the sound by ~2dB. The akra muffler will not give you more peak hp either but will help with the higher revs, and as it's less restricted than stock it's better at removing heat from the system.
The sound is nicer though, and if it sounds fast we think it's fast...

I dont know much about the FMF, but I guess it's more or less the same story?

Ofcourse if you tune the engine an aftermarket system will benefit you more as the stock is more restricting.
I personally use an akra header on my enduro 570 to release heat and let it breathe when I go full throttle on roads, but I use the dB killer as fully open is just too loud imho and it's more "sluggish" on bottom revs. On my motard/ice 570 I have a full doma system, but that is tuned.

So in short, don't expect too much of a change but a much nicer sound.

It's good. But it depends on how you will use your bike. I would never use it on my enduro/adventure 570, stock header is good enough there imo.

If you tune the engine and/or spend more time at higher revs it's a good system as it's much thicker than stock/akra and the muffler is longer. Less restricted and still relatively silent. But the "power bomb" (expansion volume on header to make it more silent) is very exposed. The system is made for supermoto and not for jumping logs on the trail.

This is a doma I found on google so you can see that the expansion chamber on the header and the muffler are much more exposed.

Oh wow, yea that wouldn't be good. I'd hammer that thing in the woods. Are there any other exhausts that are good for '10 fe450? Any fuel injection/tuner mods?

Bazzaz and JD Jetting do efi "injection" boxes that seem very well regarded

people have modified the stock muffler to let it flow a bit better - the internals vary betwen market regions afaik (eu/us .../aus?)

some nice info can be found if you search the site!

there's also the 390 airbox trick and opening up the intake a bit (holes in or near the shrouds afaik, and the hole in the seat thing :) don't know if the hole in seat is good for offroad riding)

the efi tuner seems to make the most diff, judging from the level of enthusiasm after mod :)

naive thought: maybe a 570 cam would be an upgrade?

also cleaning the injector as Jon has smartly taught! and setting the tps voltage is afaik good for response

edit - and to throw things out there, people also seem to like bigger throttle bodies (have seen that discussed most re. the 570)

one more :) does anyone know if all the mufflers and headers fit decently well together?

The husaberg after market header is out of the way in a good spot but it's $700 plus. It's made of titanium I think. On another post someone had problems with this Header but was able to fix it easy. Something like 2 hose clamps and 2 springs before he did it he had a leak. Clamps on both pipes and springs to keep them together.

Isn't the Husaberg factory header made by Akrapovic?

My vote is for the FMF powerbomb. I think it's the best looking header, especially in titanium. Plus it comes with a mid pipe, which is the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust.

I was able to pick up one for a pretty decent price from a website that sold 4x4 truck parts mostly. Also it fits the stock muffler with no modifications.

So what is this seat/airbox mod that u can do on fe450? FYI. I have the muffler that says Husaberg/Kritszman on it. Does that need to be freed up in anyway?
Besides these last questions am I good when I say that I'm gonna go with FMF bomb to either akro/fmf 4.1 rear can and snag the JD Tuner (i cannot find Bazzaz tuner for '10 fe450)

That "trick" is to put in a 390/450 airbox into a 570, so no trick for your bike... ;) The 570 do not have that bell mouth inside of the airbox, just a hole.

The seat-mod is not to recommend either. That is to make a big hole in the seat above the airbox. Good for tarmac but not for dirt.

However I do recommend to make small holes on the top of the shrouds, along the airbox under the seat. I use a soldering iron with a ~3mm point and push through so I get holes all the way. That makes it easier for air to get in and at the same time it's colder air. Normally most of the air is sucked in at the back of the airbox where the fuel hose is connected to the tank. That air goes by the midpipe and is fairly warm. When you make all the holes on the sides you can see the difference on the airfilter, instead of dust at the bottom of it close to that hole you will see dust all along the length of the filter as cold air has been sucked in from the sides.

Thanks man. Appreciate it alot. Last of all, concerns that JD tuner and the Bazzaz tuner. I can't seem to find any Bazzaz products or mymy '10 Fe450 but I found the JD tuner. has anybody used either of these and if they have on a bike like mine what exactly does it do / how does it work? just wondering if its got a whole bunch of different setups in it or if you have to be kinda geeky and know what you're doing in order to program it etc?
