I was thinking of maybe bringing a rim & tire to see if anyone would dare challenge
boss in a tire change contest? must hold air? or something along those lines?
Could be helpful in getting home, gas is spendy. How much buy in ect? Thought's?

hahaha every time I get a flat I ride into the dealer workshop and by the time I'm at the register theres a new tube already in. I'm too lazy for that sorta stuff.

could be good to see tho. have a $5 buy in and a carton of beer for the winner.

tire changing

I would be very interested to do a tire changing competition.
Give me the details before the ride!

I'm in for $10 a tire....I'll even furnish the tires and wheels.......hell......I'll even let you win :D

I'm all over that! I can change tire sooo fast...oh wait, it has to hold air....uh..never mind :(

BOSS are you sure you want to do this??????

Now I know Fritz can change a tire with a tube quick, and if bibs are in equation, then I think we will have quite a game time. We can just do it on and off the bike and then no spare wheel is neccessary.

I've done this with the A class at club like events, remove the wheel, move to a work area 10 ft away, remove the tire, run back to the bike and return to the work area, remount the tire, then remount the wheel, the the race was on. very entertaining for the crowd.

I just thought it would be fun to see, show,& learn some different styles.
I will be bringing a bunch of stuff so lets leave the big iron at home.
A couple of years ago they held a motorcycle show at the portland expo,
I was asked to do a few tube in & out & back on the bike 3min 20 sec.
was my best. Not to bad I think.Trask two day qualifier I did front & rear in
under ten min.I'm older & slower now but still want to play :D
I think together we will come up with the right rules for such a contest.
By the way I can hardly wait to see everyone I'm excited cheers.

If I get a flat I will gladly donate a a test machine. I am horrible at it. I can do it but usually end up bleeding. D*mn 8" spoons I bought.

It is a good idea BOSS and it will be fun, and BOSS, that is a pretty fine time for a tube w/air change

and yes, I can't wait to open the first beer as well

What constitutes "THE FIRST BEER"? The first guy at SlickRock drinking a Cold One? If thats the case, Bill you better get ready for the red-eye flight.. The first race is on..

Jesse, you know I'm in! Only stop for fuel and never let the drivers seat get cold are my basic road trip rules!

If anyone is in my area, I can donate a couple of used mousse tubes (and grease) for practice, but you would have to pick them up. After changing a couple of these, the fear will go away and BOSS will be selling "foamers" to lots of folks.

Isn't that true, TM how the use of those suddenly grows if the seed is planted with the right guy. Most guys in my region trail ride with them now, and 4 years ago, we scoffed at them. Nothing like a ruined ride from flat. bibs, very good insurance, especially for a trip like Moab, way to far to drive for a dinged rim.

I played with the all of the foam tubes back around 97-98 & found the mich
bibs were much more to my liking for insallation reasons two spoons & grease.
Is that how they are today? Taking vice grips to a nice wheel is so

The first time that you vise grip the rim, you cringe, now I just make sure to grip it jsut tight enough not to slip, but not tight enough to imprint the rim. Lots of grease is the trick. I use Michelin as well, but have been thinking about tire ball, then appear to have a longer useful life and should me more cost effective in the long run.
