Plastics for older husa?

hey guys I own a 1996 501 enduro bike that I'm currently working on. The front and rear fenders are busted and I was wondering where I could find replacements? I like the look of the newer shorter fenders, rather than the huge fenders that are on it now. Sort of like the Ktm front fenders for the supermoto bikes. Does anyone know where ii could find those to fit my bike?

-and is there a way to repaint my fenders to match? the discoloration between my gastank and fenders bothers me. What paint do I use?

Thanks alot.

thanks for the information about paint, but what about making newer plastics fit on an older husa? I think I'm going to keep the enormous old gas tank, so id paint it accordingly with the newer plastics..
and as for front fenders.. can i just slap and newer on one? does it work like that? I will have photos of the bike up soon. Thanks everyone.

I am pretty shore that you can`t paint a plastic tank becuse it "breaths" fumes thru the plastic.

that makes sense.. what would you suggest I do for the tank then? Decals? Is there any type of paint you can use that 'breathes' ?

There is no paint I know of that would breathe enough to prevent bubbling and peeling on high-density polyethylene used on dirt bike fuel tanks.

One way to stop the vapor permeation may be to use an aviation type fuel tank sealant.

I have not tried this myself but will some day. Concerns would be even coating coverage on the inside of the tank and adhesion of the sealant to the HDPE material.

I have some old Husa tanks that could be made to look better than new if the sealant trick would work.

Dirt bike restorers paint the tanks with automotive paint but don't put fuel in them for any length of time.

Someone could probably make a few dollars if they came out with a line of graphics (including the tank) for the older Bergs.

There was someone (Maybe Oyk in Cyprus?) who fitted late model plastics to an early bike. Might be worth a search of the forums.

Worked for my bark busters so why not a fender.

What do you reckon about my new organic workshop stand?
